LOCAL LOCKDOWN HERO WINNER IDRIS BOWEN FROM LLANDRINDOD WELLS.
We recently asked for nominations for a local lockdown hero - someone you know who has gone beyond the call of duty to help the elderly and vulnerable, whether it be a family member, friend, or neighbour.
We were inundated with entries, but it was one from Richard and Mary Davies from Llandrindod Wells, nominating Idris Bowen, that stood out to our judges:
“Idris has, for nearly a year, been delivering shopping for our local Spar shop using his own van. Delivering to as many as 100 homes per week in the town of Llandrindod Well, local villages and even more outlying areas.
We are considered vulnerable, so we’ve not gone out at all during lockdown, so food deliveries are essential.
We are so grateful to Idris who is always reliable, courteous, and cheerful, wears a mask and puts the boxes of shopping wherever we need it. He always asks after out health.
Never having met Idris before we think so highly of him and that’s why we feel he should be considered as your local lockdown hero.”
Idris wins £250 to spend in our garden centre and proudly collected his prize from Tammy Ruck, Oakchurch Farm Shop’s General Manager.
